FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Direct answers based on the current public product direction. EBAL2D is in active development. For a longer overview, read About EBAL2D.

What is EBAL2D?

EBAL2D is a browser-native 2D game engine and creation platform for building, editing and testing interactive 2D worlds. It is currently in active development.

Is EBAL2D publicly available today?

EBAL2D is in active development. The public website is available and Early Access applications are open. Submitting an application does not guarantee access. Studio, public Preview access, and private alpha are not available, and no private-alpha date has been announced.

How far along is the engine itself?

Core engine and product integration remain in active development. EBAL2D now has accepted asset, rendering, Preview, Studio, compilation, bounded creator-logic, core 2D gameplay, versioned-extension, production asset-streaming, deterministic parallel-execution, debugger and profiler, and project-specific optimization foundations. These are internal engineering milestones, not an announcement that a plugin ecosystem, Studio, public Preview, release export, private alpha, production readiness, creator-facing debugger UI, or universal automatic optimization is available.

Do I need to install a desktop editor?

The planned Studio runs in the browser, so the core editing workflow is designed not to require a heavyweight desktop editor installation.

What is Studio used for?

Studio is the authoring origin for shaping 2D projects - scenes, objects, and project structure - separate from Preview and the public website.

What is Preview used for?

Preview is an isolated environment for running the current development state of a project. It is not permanent release hosting.

How are release builds delivered?

The product direction is downloadable release archives that creators distribute or host independently. Preview is not a substitute for release distribution.

What kinds of 2D experiences is EBAL2D intended to support?

Modular 2D scenes suited to compact games, interactive stories, gameplay prototypes, and larger persistent worlds. Example world artwork on the website is an artistic representation, not shipped titles.

Will I own my exported build?

The product direction is portable project data and downloadable release output. Final legal licensing terms will be published before access opens.

How much will EBAL2D cost?

Pricing has not been announced.

When will Early Access begin?

EBAL2D is still in development. Early Access invitations will be sent when the MVP reaches the required state. Joining the list does not guarantee an invitation.

Which browsers does the public website target?

The public website targets the latest two major versions of Chrome on desktop and Android, and Safari on macOS, iPhone and iPad.

Where will official availability information be published?

Official updates will be published on ebal2d.com, including the About page and this FAQ, and on the Telegram development log.
